How quotes work:

Please see this video and notes below for details on configuring the pricing for providing 3D printing services on Maker6:

The client uploads an STL file and receives an instant quote based on your pricing settings. When the client places an order, you can choose to accept/decline/revise the order based on the files and notes provided (more information below).

Automatic Pricing: You can customize your pricing based on the following:

  • Volume/Weight: You can set a base price by the volume, weight, density, triangles and triangles in the client's STL file (see below for "About the Calculator")
  • Material: You can set different pricing based on the material chosen by the client
  • Print Quality (resolution): You can set prices to automatically update based on the print quality
  • Setup Fee: You can add a setup fee
  • Minimum Order: You can set a minimum order size
  • Shipping: You can set an automatic shipping price if the client is unable to pickup the item locally

Manual Pricing: You can manually add/adjust fees client orders based on the following:
  • Revised Shipping: If the automatic shipping cost is inaccurate, you can revise the amount
  • Design Services: If the client's file needs to be revised, then you can add a fee for fixing a file.

Manual Invoice: You can send a manual invoice to clients based on the following:
  • Invoice: You can send a invoice to the clients and manually add costs for material, print quality, setup fee, minimum order, shipping (if applicable) and design services. This is very helpful if the client is unable to provide a STL file for the model that is to be designed or if the file .

Other notes: More information about quotes/orders:
  • Billing: The client credit card will be automatically billed if you accept the project
  • Revised Price: If the price is revised, the buyer has the option to accept or decline the new quote
  • Automatic Cancelation: You will have 48-hours to accept/decline a client order otherwise it will be automatically canceled
  • Order Cancelation: A client can cancel an order at any time if you haven't accepted the project

About the Calculator: How does the STL volume/weight price calculator work?
  • Our software uses a tetrahedron volume counting algorithm to calculate the volume contributed by each of the tiny triangles that constitute the 3D model represented in a STL file. Each volume is assigned a value and a sum of all of these values gives you the total volume of the 3D object.
